IRVING, Texas (AM News Net) — Catholic Action, an organization aimed at upholding and defending Christian values, begain its 2017 Fatima Summit this Friday. In honor of the coming centennial of the Marian apparitions that occurred in Fatima, Portugal, the group is hosting two days of events, featuring a mass and keynote address delivered by Cardinal Raymond Burke.

Friday's events, which started with visitors being able to greet and take pictures with Cardinal Burke, led to a Fatima message. Although supposed to be given by Fatima expert and Franciscan Friar Father Andrew Apostoli, he could not attend for feeling ill, although his most important message of prayer was conveyed over a phone recording.

"The Saturday devotion is very, very important," Apostoli said.

Apostoli lamented the sin and violence in the world, and part of the message explained how one can offer prayers to save others.

"Mary is our Mother," he said. "She doesn't want any souls lost."

After the message about the history and significance of Fatima, mass was celebrated by Cardinal Burke, who then participated with the congregation in a Rosary procession around the building.

Saturday's events will start at 8:00 AM with a mass. Events, including a movie, banquet dinner, and more, will continue through out the day.
