Auburn Forces Game 3 After Walk-Off Grand SlamPosted 06/08/16, 12:15 AM
OKLAHOMA CITY (AM News Net) – After a thrilling game one, the Oklahoma Sooners were pressed to finish off the Auburn Tigers in game two. The Tigers, who's offense during the first night was unable to support the pitching capabilities of their senior pitcher Lexi Davis, had a complete reversal during the second game. Auburn earned 11 runs after a walk-off grand slam in the eighth inning. At first for Auburn, a loss of the chance to win the World Series seemed inevitable. By the top of the second, Oklahoma had already earned seven runs. However, this would not deter the Tigers. At the bottom of the second, junior Kasey Cooper hit a three-run home run in addition to two runs. At the bottom of the fourth, Cooper again hit a home run, bringing in another two runs to tie the game. The Tigers would not let another run go by them, despite some close calls. At the top of the sixth, Auburn senior Tiffany Howard leaped at the fence to snatch a would-be home run. "I've literally dreamed that my entire life," Tiffany Howard said. "I'm not even kidding. I dreamed that exact picture and everything." Auburn head coach Clint Myers assured that his team was not out after the first game. "We started a little rocky, but we kind of got together out there in the circle a recommitted, refocused, and from that point on you saw nothing but zeros," Myers said. "You can't count us out. We have a very, very good offense." The Tigers ended the game in an extra inning after senior Emily Carosone hit a walk-off grand slam to finish 11-7 over Oklahoma, "Tonight was a game, a war, and tomorrow will be a war again," Carosone said. "I mean, we're going to come out firing." The final game will be this evening at 6:05 PM to determine the champions. , © 2016 AM News Net. All rights reserved.
