DALLAS (AM News Net) – Six Big 12 volleyball teams are currently ranked in the NCAA RPI top 45. Texas, Kansas, Kansas State, TCU, Baylor, and Iowa State have all made it into the top 45 so far with just three weeks left of the regular season. The Big 12 is tied with the Pac-12 for percentage of teams in the RPI top 45 at 67%. Texas and Kansas, ranked 2 and 10, respectively, both have only one conference loss. "Texas has claimed the conference title the past five seasons," a press release says. The Longhorns have five more games in the regular season, four of which are home. Other teams such as Baylor may be able to finish their season well. The Bears are fielding two Players of the Week: Katie Staiger and Jana Brusek. Kansas' Kelsie Payne and TCU's Ashley Smith have also recorded their 1,000th kill last week. The two players now join Baylor's Katie Staiger as the only currently active player with 1,000 kills or more in their career.
