*Updated 07/05/16, 2:05 PM CST to add in quote from Sydney Springfield LOUISVILLE (AM News Net) – Local high school softball players have made it on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s (NFCA) all-region teams. 160 players were selected for the first and second teams, including players from the DFW metroplex. In the South Central Region, Flower Mound High School alum Sydney Springfield, who is going on to play at LSU, made the first team. Springfield currently holds the high school career record of home runs. "It's an honor to make the NFCA region team," Springfield said. "I'm so thankful for my coaches and teammates. It's a blessing that I get to play the game I love." Maddie MacGrandle from Frisco High School and Abigail Walsh from Frisco Centennial also were selected for the first squad.
