FLOWER MOUND (AM News Net)  –  The Plano West Lady Wolves (27-4) were on the prowl for another win tonight with a one-game playoff series against Duncanville. Just coming off a three-game winning-streak, the Lady Wolves won a high-stakes pitchers' duel, defeating Duncanville 1-0.

Plano West scored early with a slide into home by pitcher Sierra Lange. The single-run score remained for the rest of the game. Lange, the only one who put points on the board, also struck out 14 Duncanville batters.

"We kind of figured it might have been a little bit of a pitchers' duel early," Plano West head coach Mike Ledsome said. "It was the definition of a pitchers' duel: two great kids right there."

The one point lead was different from the norm in the past few games. In all three wins for Plano West before tonight, the Wolves finished the game at least five points ahead.

"It wasn't pretty, but we'll take it," Ledsome said.

Ledsome explained that no matter the score, the girls are used to high stakes scenarios where they are only up with a few points, or whether they are winning by more.

"I told the girls we've won in multiple, multiple ways," he said. "I was like, 'you know, we've been there. If it comes down to that and we live, you're fine,' and I think the girls have been in all the scenarios they know. They're fine."

Plano West will move on to the next round of playoffs. Coach Ledsome will be scouting possible opposing teams until the next round, and is glad they have the opportunity to move on.

"I thought we would score a few more runs but, you know, we pulled it out," Ledsome said. "One to nothing, we'll take it."
