Marcus Volleyball Sweeps Flower MoundPosted 09/28/16, 5:23 PM CST
FLOWER MOUND (AM News Net) – The Marcus Lady Marauders (15-12) and cross-town rival Flower Mound (15-20) were looking for a fight last night. Both sitting right next to each other in fifth and six in 5-6A standings, each team knew the victory could be important in deciding the playoff contenders in the conference. The Marauders, although down in district wins, managed to top the Lady Jaguars in three sets (25-17, 25-23, 25-19) last night to tie their rivals with a 2-4 district score. The win marked Marcus volleyball's second win in a row, and the third loss in a row for Flower Mound. Marcus' Morgan Mzyk led the team in kills, earning 12 that night. Luckily for the Lady Marauders, they have a chance to keep their win streak alive for a couple of games, competing against Lewisville, currently at the bottom of the standings, and then on to the Byron Nelson Bobcats, who sit right above them. The Bobcats, however, hold a 4-2 win/loss ratio. Flower Mound plays Byron Nelson next in Trophy Club. The Lady Jaguars have a 1-8 road record. The Bobcats are 10-6 at home.
