TCU Volleyball Defeats Boise State to Go Undefeated at TCU InvitationalPosted 08/28/16, 6:42 PM CST
FORT WORTH (AM News Net) – Despite serious efforts from other teams, TCU Volleyball (3-0) will be starting their season undefeated after defending home turf in the TCU Invitational this weekend. The Horned Frogs started with a 3-0 win over North Carolina State, and then faced an even tougher Arkansas state, managing a win by two in a fifth set. Today, the Frogs finished off the weekend with a strong 3-0 win (25-19, 25-16, 25-19) against Boise State. The game was reminiscent of the game against North Carolina, winning in three sets. Further, the Boise State Broncos scored 54 points throughout the three sets, the least amount any team has scored against the Horned Frogs this entire weekend. Also like the first game against North Carolina State, TCU senior Jillian Bergeson led the stats in aces. "You know you always wonder, especially at the beginning of the season, how your team is going to come back the next day after a five-set match like we had last night," TCU Volleyball Director Jill Kramer said. "The last few weeks, they have been going through double days, their first week of school and it’s the first day of consecutive days of real competition and I thought we handled it really well. We were very disciplined, took care of little details that we knew we needed to put energy into today." The 2016 TCU Invitational marks the second year in a row TCU started their season at home. The Horned Frogs won the first three games of their 2015-2016 season as well. This is also the fourth time in program history to start out with a 3-0 record. "I was proud of their effort today and I thought we put together a great three-set victory against a very good Boise State team," Kramer said. "I am looking forward to next weekend.” The Lady Horned Frogs will continue their season this Friday, September 2nd, at Duke at 5:30 PM. © 2016 AM News Net. All rights reserved.
