BALTIMORE (AM News Net) – For the 117th time, the Army (6-5) and Navy (9-3) football teams will meet on the field for a classic showdown. M&T Bank Stadium will host the gridiron game tomorrow and the game will be broadcast live on CBS at 2:00 PM CST. "If people can't see this as America's Game, they're not paying close enough attention," Army head coach Jeff Monken said. "Every young man out there who is playing in the game on Saturday with nine-thousand other college-aged students dressed in uniform sitting in the stands have all made a pledge and a commitment to serve this nation and, ultimately, would put their lives on the line for all of us who aren't willing to make that commitment. If that doesn't make it America's Game, then we don't have a game." Navy Head Coach Ken Niumatalolo echoed the sentiments. The game's importance is about respect, according to Niumatalolo. "This is a special rivalry," he said. "It's not hatred. It's respect. We respect each other." The tradition of the game goes back all the way to 1890, when the two teams met for the first time. Starting in 1984, the game has been broadcast every year since. Navy has defeated Army for 14 years in a row now, but the game has united fans for over a century. Various presidents have attended the games. President Obama attended the Army-Navy Game in 2011, where the Midshipmen sailed ahead with their 12th consecutive victory in the series with a 27-21 score. President-elect Donald Trump also plans to attend the famous match-up. The president-elect will sit for half the game on the Army side, and the other half on the Navy side. No matter the outcome, though, both teams will later fight the same battle together. "When the game is over, the players from both teams come together to serve on the front lines, and that is special," Navy Athletic Director Chet Gladchuk said. Both teams are already eligible for bowl games. Army will play against UNT in the Heart of Dallas Bowl on December 27th. Navy will face Louisiana Tech in the Armed Forces Bowl on December 23rd. "What you're gonna see is two teams playing for someone other than themselves," Navy Senior Slot Back Toneo Gulley said.
