FLOWER MOUND (AM News Net) – Sitting anxiously in fifth, one spot away from playoffs, the Marcus Lady Marauders (6-4) were relieved to have a home match against Hebron (1-9) last night. Marcus Girls Basketball defeated Hebron 58-23 for a third consecutive win. Although the Hawks started the game with a field goal, the Lady Marauders quickly caught up with a field goal of their own and a free throw to take the lead. Quickly reaching a 12-2 score, the Marauders forced the Hawks to a timeout. Hebron stepped up after, but Marcus finished the quarter up 15-11, and went into the second half 28-18. "The first half, it wasn't for lack of effort," Marcus head coach Jordan Davis said. "It was like we were just kind of glazed over offensively, so it took us a little bit to kind of get rolling." Davis stated she had a good talk with the team at halftime. "For us, we've been trying to take it one game at a time and we want to make the playoffs," Davis said. "Tonight was our chance to beat those guys in order to help keep ourselves in position to do that." Marcus sits one spot away from being in a tie for the fourth playoff spot with the Lewisville Lady Farmers, who are up by one win. "We always say 'just be 1-0' and tonight, we're 1-0," Davis said. The next game is away at Lewisville and will be important. A win will mean the Marauders will take the Farmers' playoff spot. Photos from the game can be found here. © 2017 AM News Net.
