Baylor Bats Erupt to Defeat Texas 7-0

OKLAHOMA CITY (AM News Net) – The Texas Longhorns, defeated by the Sooners on Friday in a 3-0 walk-off, had a chance at redemption Saturday afternoon with a game against the Baylor Bears. However, despite putting up a fight for most of the game, the Longhorns ultimately fell victim to an eruption of Baylor bats. Baylor put up a strong defense through out the game. Sophomore pitcher Gia Rodoni struck out 6 batters, and replacement pitcher Kelsee Selman continued the strikeout fest, recording two more strikeouts. While each Baylor pitcher made no errors, Texas' collectively made seven errors and only managed to strike out two Baylor batters. The lopsided defense of Texas still managed to keep Baylor from scoring and stranding runners, at least for a while. In the fourth inning, Baylor bats erupted, bringing in five RBI. In the fifth, the Bears continued with two more runs, thanks to a home-run by freshman Shelby McGlaun. Notably, both teams had 22 at bats, yet the score clearly suggests a strong Baylor offense. As the Longhorns were unable to keep up and used up all three outs in the top of the seventh, the Baylor Bears claimed victory with a decisive walk-off. As the teams cleared the field, the ground crews immediately started to prep it for the next game, the finals, between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
