posted 03/30/16 Originally posted on The Lewisville Texan Journal- Two days removed from a heart-breaking walkoff loss that dropped them to fifth in the district standings and going into battle with their best player at home with an injury, the Lewisville High School softball team claimed the softball version of “The Battle of the Axe” by hammering rival Marcus 11-2. The win clinched a sweep of the annual series against its fiercest rival, but more importantly put the Lady Farmers back in the upper division of their highly-competitive district. Lewisville improved to 15-6 on the season and 5-4 in district play, trailing Plano West, Flower Mound and Plano in the standings. The Lady Marauders dropped to 6-10, 2-6. With Gorsuch sidelined, junior Makayla Corbin earned the win in the pitcher’s circle. Katrina Jackson led the Lady Farmers offensively with a home run and a double and Corbin added a double, contributing to LHS’ 11 hits. . . Read more here. All photos from the game can be found here. |
