(AM News Net) – The NCAA D1 softball super regional championships will now take place in a three-day format. The D1 Competition Oversight Committee approved the new format this week and it will take effect in the 2017 season. "Previously, the softball super regionals were conducted over a two-day period with the third game, if necessary, played as part of a doubleheader on the second day," an NCAA press release said. The super regionals may now take place the Thursday through Sunday a week before the Women's College World Series. The entire press release can be read here. © 2016 AM News Net. All rights reserved.
