Sooners Defeat Horned Frogs

FORT WORTH (AM News Net) – A series of successes in the form of a five game win-streak for the Oklahoma Women's Basketball team (13-4, Big 12) was ended on Tuesday after a 79-71 loss to Kansas State. The Sooners, who sit comfortably in third place in the conference saw an opportunity to rekindle the flames of victory last night, defeating the TCU Horned Frogs (4-13, Big 12) 73-64 on their senior night. Saturday was the sixth straight win for the Sooners over the Horned Frogs, and are now 22-4 in their all time series marking their fifth sweep this season of an opponent on the Big 12. Previously, the last defeat for TCU at the hands of Oklahoma was back on January 1 with a 87-72 outcome. Oklahoma top scorer and red shirt senior Peyton Little came into the game on Saturday at 13.1 points per game. Little scored 1,146 points. With just two more points, Little will pass Mandy Wade (1,148, 1992-95) for 28th on the Sooners' all-time scoring chart. Also, Oklahoma red shirt senior Maddie Manning made all of her three three-pointers attempted and finished the game 6-10 total on field goals made to attempted. TCU senior Jada Butts lead the stats in scoring with 22 points. Although the score was tied five times and the lead changed six times, Oklahoma managed to maintain a lead at the end of each quarter. The Sooners are now firmly set with the number three seed heading into the Big 12 tournament. The tournament is single-elimination. The bottom four teams will play games in the first round in order to move up to the quarterfinals, where they will face the top six teams. Oklahoma's next game will be in Norman against Baylor.
