OKLAHOMA CITY (AM News Net) – Junior Auburn third baseman Kasey Cooper represented the Tigers during the World Cup of Softball, helping the US national team to take silver at the end of the contest. Cooper and Team USA won their first five games in the tournament before falling 2-1 to Japan in the finals. "Overall, the Dothan, Alabama native tallied three hits, including two doubles, in the 13-team tournament," a press release says. "Cooper recorded six RBI and had at least one in four of the six games played." Cooper recently finished her softball season as a junior at the 2016 WCWS, where Auburn lost 2-1 to Oklahoma, Cooper finished her junior year with a .422 batting average and second in the nation for RBI with 83: only four behind national leader Tina Iosefa, who has 87. The Auburn junior will continue to play with Team USA at the XV WBSC Women’s World Championship in Canada from July 15th-24th. Team USA will play their first game against Israel.
