Plano West Heads to Regions After 5-0 Shutoutposted 05/07/16
FLOWER MOUND – Plano West softball (27-3) was looking to stay on the path to victory in the playoffs. The Lady Wolves took to Flower Mound to snatch victory from Southlake Carroll (22-11) to move onto the region rounds of playoffs. Plano West junior pitcher Sierra Lange threw a two hit shutout against Southlake Carroll to win 5-0 in the one game playoff series, and struck out 15. Originally, both teams were unable to gain any runs for three innings. In the fourth, Plano West managed to earn thee, and another two in the fifth. Having won their past 17 games, Plano West head coach Mike Ledsome says the strategy is to take the playoffs one game at a time. “You keep our routine and what you’ve been doing all year,” Coach Ledsome said. “[We’re] going to keep it calm.” Ledsome plans to not change the routine or strategy heading further into the playoffs. “You can’t [change routine],” he said. If you start switching things up and doing different things, it just kills [the players’] flow.” Although many of the Plano West players have not experienced the playoffs before, Ledsome is confident they can win. “We’ve won 17 in a row against our district,” he said. “All of our tournaments leading up to now, it’s prepared us for this moment. I think the girls got to understand that. The best team’s going to win. We’re not going to change anything. We’re going to keep doing what we’ve been doing.” The regional quarterfinals will be sometime next week. All photos from the game can be found here. © 2016 AM News Net. All rights reserved.
