TCU Finishes Home Games With Win Over West VirginiaPosted 11/24/16, 9:12 AM CST
FORT WORTH (AM News Net) – TCU Volleyball (7-9) finished their time regular-season time playing at home with a win over West Virginia (3-12) last night in five sets (25-15, 26-28, 25-21, 18-25, 15-9), marking the the third game in a row where they had to go to the fifth set. The Horned Frogs managed to win every other set to carry the day, ending on a positive note for their seniors. "We have a lot of seniors on the court for us and senior night is always tough," TCU director of volleyball Jill Kramer said. "As much as you want to keep the emotion out, it is always there. I was proud of these girls for coming out strong and we got off to a really great start." There was even more for the seniors to celebrate. Senior Ashley Smith reached 1,000 career digs this match, making her the fifth player in TCU volleyball history to make 1,000 career digs and kills. "I was really proud of our girls for stepping up and we ended up playing a great game of volleyball," Kramer said. "We had 15.5 blocks and Ashley Smith reached 1,000 digs for her career, so she is at 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs which is pretty cool." TCU sits sixth in the Big 12 conference, and it is not guaranteed the Horned Frogs will make the playoffs. 64 teams will make the playoffs. Of those teams, 32 of them will make the playoffs automatically. The rest will be chosen by the Division I Women’s Volleyball Committee. The selections will be announced on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 9:00 PM on ESPNU. "Overall, I am really proud and it is a great way to end the season here at home and I am looking forward to watching the selection show on Sunday," Kramer said. © 2016 AM News Net.
