Semi Ojeleye Named AAC Player of the Week

DALLAS (AM News Net) – Southern Methodist red shirt junior Semi Ojeleye was named the American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Sunday per a conference release. Ojeleye, a forward, earned the honor for the second time this season after averaging 24.0 points and 7.0 rebounds. The SMU Mustangs (14-1 AAC) have won 18 of their past 19 games with his help and finished 2-0 last week. The red shirt junior from Kansas notched up 30 points in the game against Temple last week, a career high. Ojelye also made his fourth double-double this season against Temple. Ojeleye also led the team with 22 points, only four of which were in the first half, in their most recent 76-66 victory over Houston. The Mustangs were just ranked 21st by the USA Today Coaches' Poll. "This is a team that has hearts of lions," SMU head coach Tim Jankovich said. SMU will play next at Connecticut against the Huskies on February 25. The game will be aired on CBS at 11:00 AM CST.
