FLOWER MOUND (AM News Net) – Due to a restructuring in the districts, Flower Mound Boys and Girls basketball both played at home in their almost $15 million home arena. Usually, one team would play at home, and the others away because most schools did not have enough gyms for all the teams, including JV. However, this unique opportunity allowed AM News Net to cover varsity of both teams. The girls, who played against the Legacy Broncos, won 49-47. Starting the game with four consecutive points, the Lady Jaguars lead 18-10 in the first quarter, and went to the locker room at the half ahead 25-17, allowing only seven points in the second quarter. The situation never changed; Flower Mound continued their lead at the end of the third, 32-24, allowing only seven points for a second quarter in a row. The Broncos fought back hard in the final quarter, bringing the score to 44-43 with 54 seconds left, leading to a timeout. The game was tied 46-46 with 39 seconds left. The Lady Jaguars secured a victory with a free throw with 11 seconds on the clock. The boys won their game against Frisco Lone Star as well. The Jaguars scored 12 consecutive points to start the first quarter, eventually leading 20-9 into the second. Frisco Lone Star responded by starting with three 3-pointers to bring the score to 20-18. The Jaguars stopped Lone Star there, and did not allow any more points for the rest of the half. The Jaguars were still ahead at the end of the third, 40-33. Flower Mound senior Adam Dworsky finished the game after a free throw to win 58-52. © 2016 AM News Net. All rights reserved.
