Rangers Win 1st Game of Series Against Oriolesby Anthony Mazur
posted 04/15/16 ARLINGTON – The Texas Rangers (6-5, 2nd in AL West) came home from Seattle after a mixed series. The Rangers, who won 7-3 and 8-0 in the first and second games respectively against the Mariners, suffered a two run walk-off in the 10th inning, losing 4-2. The Rangers came home to play against the Orioles (7-2, 1st in AL East). Last season, the Rangers won six out of the seven games against the Birds, including all three in Arlington. The Orioles, who are coming in after a loss to Boston, ending their seven game win-streak, the best start to any season since 1944, were looking to get back on track. However, the Rangers stood their ground and won 6-3 in nine innings. The first two innings were scoreless. In the third, a dropped ball in the outfield allowed Baltimore’s Nolan Reimold to advance to second, and eventually around to home. The Rangers also earned a run to tie the game. In the fourth, the Orioles earned another run to lead 2-1. Baltimore kept the one run lead in the fifth, where the umpires ruled against Texas’ Elvis Andrus on a debated call at third base. However, Baltimore left Schoop and Reimold stranded that inning. In the top of the sixth, the Rangers replaced Hamels with pitcher Tom Wilhelmsen. In the bottom of the sixth, Texas earned five runs to take a 6-3 lead. Baltimore replaced Chris Tillman with Mychal Givens. Baltimore replaced pitchers another two times: T.J. McFarland at the bottom of the 7th and then with Brad Brach at the bottom of the 8th. Unfortunately for Baltimore, the replacements were a case of too-little-too-late. The Orioles could not score in the top of the 9th, ending the game. Texas will play Baltimore tonight at 7:05 PM CST. © 2016 AM News Net. All rights reserved.
