TALLAHASSEE (AM News Net) – FSU Softball, 2016 Women's College World Series semifinalists, are ready to return to game-play this fall. The Seminoles have just released their fall schedule. Florida State will host home games against West Florida, Tallahassee Community College, Chipola College, Georgia Highlands College, Thomas University and Georgia. In addition, the team will play road games at Fort Lauderdale where they face softball favorite Florida, then to Hollywood, Florida. Lonni Almeda, afour-time ACC Coach of the Year, will lead the charge, coaching 17 returning players and six freshmen: Cassidy Davis, Dani Morgan, Leslie Farris, Elizabeth Mason, Anna Shelnutt and Sydney Bates. "I am so excited to get back out and working with this great team and family," Almeda said. "It has been a long summer and it’s been great to hear about all the work the players have been putting in and now we can start to see how all of these pieces come together." As for how the Seminoles will perform, that remains to be seen. The team has embarked for a team building activity on the beach this weekend. "Last year was great, but this is Team 34," Almeda said. "It has a new roster, new identity and we’ll need to use these next several weeks of the fall to set the foundation for our season in the spring." The games and scrimmages in the fall will be free and open to the public. All information can be found here. © 2016 AM News Net. All rights reserved.
