TCU Volleyball Slips in 2nd Victory with 3-2 Win Over Arkansas StatePosted 08/28/16, 9:08 AM CST
FORT WORTH (AM News Net) – TCU Volleyball (2-0) won their second game of the season by a narrow margin last night, defeating Arkansas State (2-1). The Horned Frogs, who recently defeated North Carolina State in three sets and won the first two sets against Arkansas State, found themselves in trouble after losing the third and fourth set, and faced a narrow lead in the fifth set until winning 16-14. The game was tight the entire night, with the teams being tied 31 times through out the game. TCU Volleyball director Jill Kramer explained that Arkansas State was fast offensively, which foiled her team's blocking. "We were really sharp on both sides of the ball through the first two sets, but with that being said, this was one of the fastest offenses we have seen maybe ever and they run it well," Kramer said. "It was really hard for us to adjust to because one of our strengths is blocking and it was tough to block these guys." However, the Horned Frogs defense came together on blocking, finishing with 14 total blocks, compared to Arkansas State's four. "I think we really didn't play like ourselves in the third and fourth sets," Coach Kramer said. "I didn't think we were as clean or sharp, but when we hit adversity in the fifth set, we really came together." TCU's next game will be against Boise State at 2:00 PM. © 2016 AM News Net.
