Auburn Alumni Face Off in 2016 ESPY AwardsPosted 06/24/16, 3:44 PM
(AM News Net) –The Auburn Tigers will have a fight on their hands this coming month due to competing alumni athletes in the 2016 ESPYS. Softball alum Tiffany Howard and baseball player Josh Donaldson will go head to head in a bracket-style competition to determine who made the best play of the season. Former Auburn outfielder Tiffany Howard was nominated for leaping to steal a home run in the second game of the Women's College World Series against Oklahoma. Howard leaped to catch a would-be two-run home run by Oklahoma's Shay Knighten in the sixth inning. Auburn would come to win 11-7 after a walk-off grand slam in the eighth inning. "I've literally dreamed that my entire life," Tiffany Howard said in a press conference after the game. "I'm not even kidding. I dreamed that exact picture and everything." Her competitor, Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson, is also from Auburn and made a similar play as well. Donaldson jumped head-first into the crowd to preserve a then no-hit game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Donaldson was also the 2015 MVP for the American League. The 2016 ESPY awards, presented to recognize athletic achievement, will be aired live on ABC Wednesday, July 13th, at 7:00 PM Central. Fans are able to vote until that time here. © 2016 AM News Net.
