Timber Creek Defeats Flower Mound in 1-game Playoff Seriesposted 04/29/16
COPPELL – For Flower Mound Softball (20-7-2), it did not seem that they would go down in the first round of playoffs. But like last year, the Lady Jaguars were knocked out by another 5-6A team, which also happened to be from Keller: The Timber Creek Falcons (21-8). Originally, Flower Mound lead in the first inning in the game last night, but the Falcons managed to claw their way out of the point deficit, eventually keeping the game a 2-1 until the fifth inning. By the top of the seventh, Timber Creek would be ahead by eight. Down 10-2, the Jaguars could not earn enough runs to save the game at the bottom of the seventh. Timber Creek head coach Laura Moore explained that the team’s batting carried the game. Timber Creek managed to get ten hits compared to Flower Mound’s four. “We worked on our hitting a lot this week,” she said. “It showed tonight. They did a really good job at putting the ball in play.” As this was the only game in the playoff series Timber Creek will be moving on and Flower Mound’s season has ended. “We’re laying down our own history,” coach Moore said. “Our kids had a great week of practice and they were prepared.” After the game, Timber Creek invited Flower Mound to pray together in the center of the field, a tradition started by the Timber Creek players. The Lady Jaguars accepted, bonding with the team that will move on in the playoffs. All photos from the game can be found here. © 2016 AM News Net. All rights reserved.
