FLOWER MOUND (AM News Net) – Looking to continue a perfect district record, the Flower Mound Jaguar basketball team squeezed in a victory over their crosstown rival, Marcus High School, last night to become 3-0 in district 5-6A. The 58-57 win occurred after a technical foul allowed Flower Mound senior Adam Dworsky to shoot two free-throws in the final seconds to make sure Marcus could not catch up. Leading throughout the entire game, the Jaguars almost allowed Marcus to come back at the end of the game through many layups. "We were pretty bad defensibly down the stretch," Adam Dworsky said in an interview with Flower Mound Sports Network. "They got inside of us too much. They got too many layups. Luckily we pulled ourselves a big enough lead so where we came away with the victory and that's all that matters." Flower Mound finished the first quarter ahead 21-9, but their offense slowed down. The Marauders scored only nine points every quarter except the fourth, where they scored 30, but the deal was sealed when only a few seconds were on the clock and Adam Dworsky's free throws made a tie-game unreachable. Dworsky gave credit to his teammates when making the shots. "It helps a lot having your teammates trust in you," he said. "It helps having that confidence." The Jaguars next game will be against Trinity on Tuesday, January 10th at home at 7:30 PM. All photos from the game can be seen here. © 2017 AM News Net. All rights reserved.
