SMU Mustangs Defeat Albany

DALLAS (AM News Net) – Undefeated at home and finishing up non-conference play after a 72-49 victory over Stanford last night, the SMU (10-3) Mustangs defeated Albany (7-6) 71-53. The win marks the 23rd home win against a non-conference opponent at home. Although the Mustangs started out with a 2-0 lead to start the game and scored nine points before Albany responded, the game was close after the Great Danes kept closing in. Semi Ojeleye recorded 28 points, a career high. "I love guys who are so passionate about their craft, whatever it is," SMU head coach Tim Jankovich said of Semi Ojeleye's performance. "But we're talking about basketball right now and they live it and they breathe it." Ojeleye also made 17 points in the first half, the most an SMU player has ever done so far this season. The half ended with SMU on top, 34-32. The Mustangs finished the job 71-53. SMU's next game will be at Memphis on Tuesday, December 27.
