DALLAS (AM News Net) – The SMU Mustangs launched an initiative on Tuesday to help military servicemen while allowing fans to enjoy Mustang spirit. The program, Seats for Soldiers, will be for active, reserve, and former military members. Fans can purchase tickets through the Veteran Tickets Foundation (Vet Tix), an organization created to give back to veterans. "Veteran Tickets Foundation's Tickets for Troops Program is dedicated to giving back to those who gave us so much," the Vet Tix website says. "We team up with major sports teams, leagues, promoters, organizations, venues and every day event ticket holders to provide free and discounted tickets to currently serving and veterans of all branches of the US military." Vet Tix has given out three million event tickets for veterans and their families, and will continue to do more now that they are joining forces with SMU. "Fans can take part in the 'Seats For Soldiers' campaign by purchasing tickets online, by calling the SMU Ticket Office at 214-SMU-GAME or by visiting the Ticket Office at Ford Stadium weekdays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.," a release says on the SMU Athletics website.
