NFHS Approves New Softball Uniform, Equipment RulesPosted 07/12/16, 3:34 PM CST
INDIANAPOLIS (AM News Net) – The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) has approved new additions to softball rules regarding uniforms, equipment, and substitutions. The changes, approved in the middle of June, will change aspects of the NFHS’ softball Rule 3, along with one change to Rule 1. According now to Rule 3-2-15, all equipment will now be required to be placed outside of the dugout. “The rules committee agreed that placing all equipment in one location at one time is a more efficient method to conduct this inspection,” an NFHS release says. For Rule 3-2-1, inclement weather is now an exception to usual uniform rules. Rule 3-2-7 also contains new language to “reinforce” solid color undergarments. “We felt it was important to standardize the colors of the undergarments not only to reinforce the solid color requirements similar to other NFHS sport rules, but also because it can be a distraction and create a possible safety concern,” Sandy Searcy, NFHS director of sports said. Rule 1-5-2c regarding taper surfaces has also been revised. The rule changes can be seen completely here. © 2016 AM News Net. All rights reserved.
