NCAA D1 Volleyball Updates: TCU Director of Volleyball Jill Kramer Reaches 100 Career Wins, Kansas Upset by CreightonPosted 12/02/16, 8:59 PM
DALLAS (AM News Net) – TCU Director of Volleyball, and formerly the first scholarship volleyball player on the inaugural team, Jill Kramer has reached her hundredth career win tonight after a take down of Wichita State in four sets (25-17, 25-23, 22-25, 25-20). The round one win in the NCAA D1 Volleyball Championship also allows TCU to advance into the next round of the playoffs. This season is only the third time in program history where the Horned Frogs have won a playoff bid, the first of which was in 2009. TCU was one of the teams chosen by a selection committee to make it into the tournament of 64 teams. The Horned Frogs started the game down by only one, quickly tying the game after a quick kill by senior Natalie Gower. TCU soon took the lead and was ahead in the first set, making zero errors and 12 kills in total. TCU also took the lead in the second set, and despite Wichita State fighting back for an 18-16 lead, the Horned Frogs managed to hold off and regain the lead after scoring four points in a row. Wichita State took set three, but their success ended there. The Horned Frogs initiated the final set with two consecutive points, eventually winning their first postseason match. TCU Volleyball will continue their postseason run in the next round. Other teams covered by AM News Net moving on include the Boise State Broncos and SMU Mustangs, who will move on to play Texas after a win over the Aggies. No. 5 Kansas will not move on after a loss to Creighton. The match went to five sets with the Jayhawks losing 20-18 despite saving six match points.
