Hebron hawks beat austin fort bend in uil volleyball championships Hebron Hawks Volleyball represented Lewisville ISD Saturday in the UIL State 6A Finals held at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, defeating opponent Austin Fort Bend in four sets. At first, Hebron took set 1 25-21, and the lead increased by an even larger margin in set 2 with a 25-18 victory over Austin. However, Austin regrouped in set 3 to win one 25-22. Nevertheless, the brief respite was not enough to come back against some impressive Hebron players. Senior Jordan Yauch was named the Most Valuable Player of the match. Sophomore libero Annie Benbow started attracting attention on social media after the game; out of the 95 digs, the defensive player proved her worth, making 32 of them herself. Clearly, the team is excited, especially considering Flower Mound made playoffs last year, but Hebron is stepped in while the other Lewisville ISD teams did not make it. The joy was evident after the game, with Hebron junior Savannah Blagg shouting “I love you!” to her teammates repeatedly after winning the game.
“I’m going to DisneyWorld!” Blagg said jokingly. “I’m going to the bus.” Blagg recounted her feelings, describing her team: “It’s been an amazing experience,” Blagg said. “We’ve worked hard these last few years, and my teammates are more like family and I’m just going to miss them so much next year.” In the end, the Hebron Hawks won the fourth and final set 25-18, walking out with tears of joy and hopes for a similar result next season.
