NCAA Volleyball Playoff Teams AnnouncedPosted 11/28/16, 4:55 PM
DALLAS (AM News Net) – NCAA has announced all 64 teams moving on to the playoffs last night. 32 volleyball teams automatically clinched a tournament bid, while the rest moved on via being selected by a committee. Of the teams moving on, six are from the Big 12, the most ever sent by the conference since 2011 (seven). Texas, Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor, Iowa State and TCU will move on to play in the first round of the tournament, which will be held from December 1-3. The Horned Frogs, who were selected by the committee, will participate in the postseason tournament again after making it last year. The consecutive playoff bids is a first for the program's history. Other institutions frequently covered by AM News Net have moved on, such as SMU. The Mustangs clinched a playoff spot after defeating Connecticut in four sets last week, earning the title of AAC champions. SMU will play Texas A&M in the first round of playoffs Friday at 4:00 PM CST in Austin. The winner will move on to play either Texas and UT Rio Grande Valley, depending on who wins that game. A bracket of all 64 teams and approaching competitions can be seen here. © 2016 AM News Net. All rights reserved.
