DALLAS (AM News Net) – SMU Volleyball released its schedule for next season on Friday. The Mustangs will start off the year in the SMU DoubleTree Invitational on August 25, and begin a new run for the playoffs. Last season, SMU went 18-2 in the AAC for their second straight championship, and overall won 26 games. After sweeping the Aggies last year in the first round of the NCAA volleyball tournament, the Mustangs were knocked out by Texas. SMU will kick off conference play at home on September 22 against Tulane, and another home game against Houston on the 24th. The Mustangs will have two conference honor winners, Katie Hegarty and Kendall Patterson, returning to the court this coming year. Hegarty was an AVCA First-Team All-Region selection, ranked fifth in The American with 461 kills, and recorded at least ten kills in 28 of 34 games. In four matches she made at least 20 kills.
