SMU Center Evan Brown Named to 2017 Outland Trophy Watch ListPosted 07/13/17, 4:12 PM
DALLAS (AM News Net) – SMU senior Evan Brown was one of 20 centers named to the 2017 Outland Trophy Watch List, an award to honor top linemen on offense and defense, on Thursday. Brown started all 12 games the Mustangs played in the 2016 season and is also part of the Athlon Sports Preseason All-American Athletic Conference first team. The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), an organization of 1,400 journalists, broadcasters, and other key personnel who work in the industry, will vote on the winner from among three finalists after the selection is narrowed down by the FWAA All-American committee. The winner of the Outland Trophy, named after the late John Outland, lineman who played at Penn State, will be declared live on ESPN. Fans can tune in on December 7th to watch the Home Depot College Football Awards show, held in Atlanta for the third consecutive year.
